What is the point in this?

You have paid for the license regardless of how you upgrade it. OEM is cheaper so why buy the upgrade version to do a clean install?

Can you not do a clean install (with the upgrade version) like you have been able to with every other version of Windows in the past - just by inserting your previous operating systems install disc during installation for a minute or two when prompted?
