USA multi trip

We are trying to book a multi trip holiday including driving between LA/Vegas/San Fran, then flying to Chicago, Boston,New York. All the flights seem to have stopovers and i have NO idea which order to book them in. It makes more sense to fly to each place in order of distance, so that we aren't going back on ourselves. AA and US are cheap so we will probably go with them.
ANY advice from anyone who has done this before will be most welcome. Or even suggestions on other places to visit/how to book.
Cheers :money:

maybe the folks over at the flyertalk forums will be able to help...they are frequent flyers so they should be able to help you with routeings and stuff0

I'd fly into San Francisco-drive down to LA for the Pacific Highway drive then onto Vegas. Then fly AA direct Vegas to Chicago, Chicago to Boston and then Boston to New York-all of those are available as direct flights. Look at costing it as two tickets UK to San Francisco (direct from Heathrow) and New York back to UK on one ticket-and the other journeys on a seperate ticket. aa.com will cost it both ways as will expedia and often there's a big difference in total fare.
You should be able to find a one way carhire without much difficulty for pick up in SF and drop in Las Vegas without a massive surcharge but watch out for that when getting prices as some charge a fortune.
Hope that helps with the order-it's the most logical route to take I believe.
