please help me i have been declined

Really depressed i have today applied for Virgin 0% balance transfer and have phoned tonight to be told i have been declined. I am a single mum left a very bad relationship, my debt built up during last year as numerous things went wrong with my car, (which i need as my childrens school is too far to walk i am desperately trying to move nearer)so i am paying heavy interest i currently owe about £800 i have just paid £400 before christmas. I was really praying today i would be accepted i am cutting back on as much as i can.
Please can someone advise me feel like i have been in this debt forever is it unlikely i will be able to get a 0% bt card as i am on benefits? any help in this would be much appreciated

You are unlikely to obtain credit on benefits anyway so far better to see what can be done with your outstanding debt. £400 is not too much and the fact you paid nearly half of the £800 not long ago is a great sign.

Can you post a SOA so we can see where your money is going and help you out with some ideas. This probably should be in the DFW board so admin might pop it over in a bit.

  • awww sorry to hear your money worries are getting you down, someone will be along soon to give you some great advise but i'll stick my two cents worth in.........
if you are only on benifits with no other regular income it can be really hard to get a 0% credit card. if the interest on the 800 is geting too much then what about a local credit union? they are local co-operative organisations that help people who have little money with affordable loans. can you borrow the money off a friend or parent?

its time consuming but why dont you stick up a list of your income and outgoings, sometimes its easier when someone else picks it apart!

a lot of us in debt often wish we had struggled to pay our debts off when they were lower before we consolidated and consolidated until we could no longer aford to pay it back!

there are also ways to make a little bit of extra money! have a look round this site, personally ive just won £120 for nothing! look at the cashcade bingo sites list in the gambabling loophole board ALTHOUGH I STRESSFULLY ADD I DO NOT ENDORSE GAMBALING IN ANY WAY! AND WOULD URGE YOU NEVER TO USE ANY OF YOUR OWN MONEY! (ALTHOUGH THERES NO NEED WHEN THEY GIVE YOU A FREE TENNER TO PLAY LOL)

look at the moneysaving old style board for cheap meals homewares etc!

no doubt you have probably done all these but i thought id start with the obvious.

    Hi there

Sorry to hear about your worries. Hop over to the Debt Free Wannabe board and post your Statement Of Affairs - all the money you have coming in, and ALL the money that needs to go out.

If you can't get a credit card to sort it out then the bunch of DFWers over there will be able to help you to find ways of cutting back and saving elsewhere, I'm sure. In fact, you might find that you can make ends meet without needing to get another card which ends up being a *better* option for you. :)
