Anyone had trouble with the new Kids Halifax 10% Saver?

I applied on-line to open 2 kids regular savers for my daughters with the Halifax. They both have a Save4it account as well. When I applied, I received an email saying it would take approx 14 days to set up. This seems a long time for applying on-line don't you think?

The first deposit was to come from their Save4it accounts, £100 each. It has been nearly 2 weeks now and I still haven't heard anything. However, when I checked the accounts today online, £200 has been taken from one of my daughter's accounts, and £100 from the other. The worrying thing is that when I rang Halifax, the person I spoke to said that no new accounts have been set up, and they don't know where the money has gone! I have to ring back tomorrow between 9-5 to find out where the money is!

Maybe they have been overwhelmed with so many applications! I hope they don't lose an interest whilst their money is floating around in cyberspace lol!

I wish I had gone to the branch and opened one, at least it would have been dealt with there and then. I thought the internet was supposed to be more convenient and hassle-free.

Vent over  , anyone else had problems trying to open one of these accounts?

The clueless halifax branch staff do not have a clue what they are doing... not a clue ! Really are so thick that I sent a letter of complaint to the manager.

The telephone support seem to know what they are doing.

The online banking arm should be working and perhaps you should give them 3 weeks for the paperwork to follow.

I have a lengthy tale to tell, so won't tell it in totality.

Rather than I have 2 kids and me and my wife aimed to open 2 regs for each child EACH. i.e. 4 regs.

    Now I opened 2 at the branch - a nightmare !
Opened two by phone - Better but the branch aspect was a nightmare ! They could not take money over the counter !!! - Had to go through senior staff to get the money IN !

Now wait for it wait for it....

I also opened one online that yes as you have experienced took the money from my current account... Err hmmm. Now I have 5 reg accounts.........

I.e. 1 child has 2 accounts with me as the trusteeeeeeee!

Okay now I need to call the support and get them to shut one accoutn down before the halifax bank falls on my shoulders with a big thud !

Yes, £100 a month. Thats it, no more. So not really suitable for moving a lump sum over

Deemy, perhaps we use the same branch of Halifax? Absolute muppets!

Ok thanks. Is there a thread with the best kids savings accounts only I can't find anything recent?

After 4 phone calls I have found out that one account has been set up and £100 transfered in. However, the other £100 has gone astray! They don't know where it has gone. A lady from the business centre is investigating where the money has got to. The other account isn't open yet, so the other £100 is floating around somewhere.

Damn annoying this, I hope my daughters don't lose any interest whilst their money is being traced. The customer service reps don't seem to know what they are doing at the Halifax. :rotfl:
