Damart - Again!

After the saga of the spoof threatening letter from Damart (see elsewhere on this thread) we decided to sever any contact with them. About three weeks ago I rang them up and asked them to remove us from their data-base and not send any more catalogues and literature. In this morning's post there was a catalogue and the "wonderful news" that we had been awarded a "special prize". I immediately rang Damart again reminding them that we did not want to hear from them again only to be told that it could take up to four months for the cancellation and data-base removal to take effect.
I think that this is yet another con. I think that by taking this much time for anything to happen they are hoping that people would just give up, roll over meekly and continue to receive all their junk mail. Well this isn't going to happen to me. I will keep phoning them until it happens and I don't receive any more letters from them.
Someone suggested sending all the rubbish back in a pre-paid envelope. Unfortunately Damart don't use them . You have to put your own stamp on their pre-printed envelope to send a reply.

Well, if you "forget" to put a stamp on they have to pay a £1 handling fee and the price of the stamp!Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Oh yes, I would definitely write to them several times and send all their stuff back to them and 'forget' to put a stamp on it. I bet they find they can take you off their mailing list quicker once they get a few unstamped charges. Don't forget 'not' to put a return address on the envelope.

I phoned them and told them that we were going away for a few months and didn't want any more catalogues, I was asked if I wanted them to start being delivered again when we came back, I told them I would contact them if I did, they stopped immediately.
It's worth a try sometimes a little white lie is necessary. (We were actually going away for one month though)
If only stopping Cleaneasy and Betterwear was that simple :-(0
