Here something to make with the leftover fabric. Free Sewing pattern....................Fabric Shopping Carrier Bag

I've made quite a few of these now and love using them at the supermarkets. They are carrier bag shape and size.

Croft mill often sells linen. Do an online search and phone them. The staff are friendly but they don't stock the same lines all the time so it can be a bit hit and miss. Prices are normally good but you do have to pay postage.

Claire, I've found this place which sells linen but I have no experience of them so I don't know anything about them. They have linen in two weights which I think explains the 12" and 15" labels (that confused me). Prices are in euros and I think they are actually a German company despite the British web address.

I don't know whether that helps or not. You could also try www.fabric.com in the States but I haven't checked to see if they have white linen. Or www.fabrics-store.com - I got some of their linen a few years ago which was fine but haven't bought any more for a while. You have to factor in the cost of postage of course.

Purpleivy glad the hoodie is coming along. Sounds like you might have overestimated your size a bit, it's always nice to have to trim stuff down not add inches!

Well I was very naughty and bought some fabrics yesterday for summer tops (well I was running short but not exactly Out of knits) so I have plenty to do today. My dining table is looking like a branch of fabrics-r-us at the moment so I need to get stuff cut out before the Complaints Department starts whinging about not having room to stuff down his fish and chips (so unreasonable ;) ).

Anyone know an online fabric shop doing good linen?

Not sure about the quality but http://www.fabricland.co.uk/index.htm have a wide selection of linen in stock. You need to scroll down the page to find it. Perhaps you could ask for a swatch before you buy?

Thanks for all the sites guys - I have an essay to write today, so my treat every 1000 words will be to order a swatch of linen! Also have some lavender bags to make for a friends birthday present, so that's my evening taken care of.

got some wicked fabric today to make my first skirt with, just a basic knee length wrap around.

Its black and white new york sky line, got 2 meters for £8.00 I was really happy with that ( do you all think this was OK just a cotton/polly mix). I thought that this may also make a basic bag as well ( im only a size 12)
