Hi Brassneck - welcome to 'Bankruptcy and Living With It'.
I'm sorry if we don't exude enthusiasm over your introductory statement - please don't think we're being rude.
It's just that bankruptcy can be a very emotional subject - not just for those who are 'going through it' but it also stirs up the emotions of the BR 'Knockers' who think that 'bankruptcy is the easy option' often resulting in the 'Trolling' of this forum, by those intent on deriving some form of 'sick' gratification out of the circumstances of people for whom there has been no other alternative.
Bankruptcy tends to be 'individually unique' and we do tend to be 'wary' of the 'been there - got the T-shirt' approach.
But we're not such a bad bunch - once you get to know us.

It certainly isnt the easy option. Ive been self employed and first time i had a thriving business, till my partner decided Spain was a better life, so he took himself off with his wife, his kid and my money. Hey ho onward and upward.
This time round was overnight, literally. Government ruling and change of funding on business i was in meant i lost every contract within 24 hours. I had 3 main competitors, and they went pop too.
Onward and upward again.
This time round i will take better precautions.
Thanks for the welcome anyway:DIn Consilio Sapienta0 -
Discharge certificates are not issued by the oR. They are issued by the court, after you make an application for a certificate of discharge and pay the fee (currently £60 i think). Then you wait a few weeks whilst Court checks with OR (did the bankrupt fail to co-operate with the OR and there is still a suspension of discharge?). Once OR confirms to court there is no SOD, the court will send certificate of discharge in post.0

Hi Brassneck,
Do you think you're liable to get a BRU/O given there's only 7 years between your bankruptcies?:D0 -

I may be being a bit dim here, but whats a BRU/O ?????????
Incidently, got a letter today asking about my employment position as the OR is planning on asking for an early discharge.
Hmmmmm.In Consilio Sapienta0 -

It's a Bankruptcy Restriction Undertaking or Order. It extends the period of your bankruptcy if you've been a naughty boy or girl; too many bankruptcies in one decade are usually enough to qualify for one. :eek:0 -
Ah gotcha.
Well i suppose the letter i got answers that question then.
However i did go down the DMP route twice so it wasnt a simple solution, but a final solution. In Consilio Sapienta0 -
