    Hi,

welcome to the board. Possibly not a great idea to crow about being BR twice, though I do understand that you are trying to make it clear that being BR need not be painful. My advice to a newbie; try to be a bit more diplomatic - we've had people fly off the handle on these boards.

Hi Brassneck - welcome to 'Bankruptcy and Living With It'.

I'm sorry if we don't exude enthusiasm over your introductory statement - please don't think we're being rude.
It's just that bankruptcy can be a very emotional subject - not just for those who are 'going through it' but it also stirs up the emotions of the BR 'Knockers' who think that 'bankruptcy is the easy option' often resulting in the 'Trolling' of this forum, by those intent on deriving some form of 'sick' gratification out of the circumstances of people for whom there has been no other alternative.
Bankruptcy tends to be 'individually unique' and we do tend to be 'wary' of the 'been there - got the T-shirt' approach.
But we're not such a bad bunch - once you get to know us.

I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Welcome Lenny and any advice is always welcome, especially if you know anything about houses (poor Richard/rog2 get over worked there, will give them a much needed break):D
I'm guessing you also have knowledge about BRO/U's?? and they are often asked about.

Hi and welcome , I am considering bankruptcy along with my husband. However in 1991 I went bankrupt with my ex husband as our shop folded. Ex husband did all papework for it, when you went bankrupt in 2000 did you obtain a discharge certificate I never got one, but believe I had automatic discharge ?

I went through bankruptcy in 1996 and I didn't receive a discharge certificate.
Don't count the days ..... make the days count!_party_
  • IIRC you have/had to apply for a certificate, as they weren't automatically sent. I didnt get one when i first went belly up, not sure this time as the rules have changed.
