Blacksheep - where have you been? "Part use"? You have to be joking - around here people buy up second homes without even coming to see them and let them out for holiday use. There's one on my doorstep and they bought without seeing - all appliances, carpets, curtains included. I've seen them once in the last year dropping off bedding and some pots & pans.
People are coming and going all the time and paying to use that cottage - so to me that's a business! Also, according to your argument we "part use" our van "as a consumer" ........ occasionally we go out in it & not for work!!
The other example happens frequently - I am just trying to query how come SOME people who have a business can use OUR business (B2B contract) and expect the Sale of Goods Act to apply (& we're talking max couple of hundred quid). Whereas if we (as a small business) buy a new vehicle for about £15,000 we're just supposed to lump it.0
