Corgi Problems - Help !

A couple of months ago we had a new boiler installed and a new gas fire plumbed into the sitting room using a small but CORGI registered gas fitter (one man band). He didnt give us the certificate straight away and said he'd send it to us in the post. We left it over Xmas and contacted him about it last week. Now the problem - he's stopped working as he has cancer! I know its true because I made a few enquiries.

Now i dont want to pester a sick man but I have no certificate and i want to put my property on the market and they're going to want the certificates.

Any advice on where to go from here? Can I get a retrospective certificate from someone else and if so what can I expect this to cost?

Cheers in advance.

Although sadly the Corgi man is ill it is only a question of him going online to Corgi and registering the boiler and fire that way or ringing them up with the details - about 5 mins work.
Perhaps you could ask him again?

If you don't want to bother him when he is so ill, it is perfectly permissible for a registered installer to certify another registered installers work. It's only not possible to do this on an illegally installed appliance. I'm sure most RGIs would do this if you explained the circumstances.

Thanks for the info. The original guy is very ill and I would really prefer not to bother him or his family if its at all possible. Its unfair for me to have the hassle but there but for the grace of god and all that.

Would I be able to call another installer from the yellow pages to get them to certify the work? How much should I expect to pay them for this?

    Thanks

Any chance of talking to someone else in his family and asking if he has got someone to take over his work? There's a chance he will have been re-directing work to someone he knows, who is qualified, who you would have thought would be willing to help out in the circumstances.

You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

    Thanks for the help.

I already asked about someone taking over from him but the guy he redirected his work to says he knows nothing about it and basically is too busy to help !

I'll give Corgi a call and see what they can say to help.
