I just got a letter from Sky saying that I had cancelled a subscription. This is not the case. So I rang them on their expensive 08700 number and after the usual 6 options I got to speak to an indian lady andtold her my problem. Straightaway she said sorry, it was a mistake and they sent this erroneous letter to everybody. It then struck me that like me a lot of people might have called Sky to query the false cancellation. In which case, Sky will have received a sudden boost to its income from the 08700 fees they receive. Is it just me or am I right to smella rat.

Good way of raising revenue for Sky just like the we will sell you details to anyone we choose and if you want to opt out ring this number. They forgot to say that anyone who previously opted out doesn't have to do it again as mentioned on Watchdog last week

I had to call them last night to book a box office film, the 4 digit number they gave us as a pin had never been activated.(by them) 0870 call and extra charge to set up the film.

Sky are rip off merchants, to cancel my subscription I had to ring them twice, the second time I was on the line for 20 mins just trying to cancel. I'm back with Ntl/Virgin, with them I now have two freeview boxes (Free boxes and free tv) at no extra cost. And if I want to ring them it costs me nothing. I even had an email from their customer service team asking how it all went, I am very happy to have freeview from them at no cost to myself.
