Consumer Unit Fitting Cost?

Comments

  • Sorry to butt in but does anyone know if it there is any regulation against fitting a consumer unit in the vertical position. I want to fit a new consumer unit and I have a nice recess that will only allow me to fit it vertically but I have never seen one fitted like this.

Thanks for your help if you can
  • As the last post in this thread was in October 2005 I think it's fair to say that you're not really butting in :)
Thanks to all who post constructively.

Consumer Unit Fitting Cost? Hi any "Sparks" out there who would like to give an estimate as to the cost of having a consumer unit fitted in a 3/4 bed semi Just outside Manchester?

    Hi there.
there may be additional work however. do you have mains bonding?
this is a 10mm earth cable connected from your water incoming (and gas if you have it) to the main earth terminal. If not, then it will have to be installed....its not a massive job but may cost and extra £100 ish.
How far outside manchester are you? Im part-P registered but up in Durham.
    Nic.

There isn’t a regulation but you should install it to manufacturer’s instructions. Fit it the correct way up!

If you’re looking for an electrician try the NICEIC website.

Care should be taken when seeking advice through a public forum.;)
