You need Conditional Formatting found under Format.
It has taken about 4,500,000,000 (4.5 billion) years for the Earth to form as it is now .........
and it'll only take about another 100 years for mankind to really **** it up!!!!

You should be able to achieve this using Conditional Formatting (Format > Conditional Formatting).

So if you have 3 numbers in A1, A2 and A3.

The formatting on A1, can compare itself to the number is A2 and A3, if it's greater than both, then change to colour 1, if it's less than A2 but greater than A3 then change to colour 2, if it's less than both A2 and A3, colour 3 etc.
