Traded Endowment- IFA

I have a Britannic Portfolio Investment Bond. It's only for £1,000 but even after 6 years I've been told I won't get the full amount if I cash-in. Anyone know how to go about trading-in, or what the first port of call would be?

What you have is a single premium whole of life assurance (to give it the generic name). It cannot be sold under the same process that endowment policies are.
