3rd Party, Fire and Theft DEARER than Fully Comp!

Can someone tell me if this makes sense? I've checked on the first two links on your Insurance page (with Money Supermarket and then Confused). Insurance for our Ford Modeo for myself, my wife and my son (19) was £1200 for fully comp, but £1300 for 3rd party, fire and theft!! This doesn't sound right to me. Has anybody else seen this?

I thought I'd choose 3rd party to see if was cheaper. That was a mistake!

    Yep.

I think someone else reported it somewhere on this board (you have to search to find it ) but I've had it as well. For me it's cheaper to have comp insurance even though my car is a banger.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

It's not necessarily a mistake. It's because a lot of insurers don't offer TPFT cover.

This can lead to the situation like yours where the quote for TPFT comes from company A at £1300. Company B does not cover TPFT so does not quote.

But the quote for comp comes in at £1200 with company B.
  • Ah, that makes sense. ok, thanks guys. Your feedback is much appreciated.
