Help - can I put ironstone plates in a microwave?

My neighbours have never used a microwave before.
They have some plates which are marked as 'ironstone'.
Can these be safely used in a microwave?
I would guess these plates are at least 20 (maybe even 30) years old.
Anyone got a clue what they are made of and if they contain any metal?
I've seen newer stuff that is safe - but I think these plates were bought before microwaves were widely used.
Thanks for any replies.

What is ironstone?
Ironstone is earthenware that is fired to a high temperature which makes is harder and more durable. Burleigh products are fired to 1160°C - 2120° F
And
Are Burleigh products oven proof?
All Burleigh products are made from English earthenware, and are dishwasher proof and microwave safe.
Both are from the Burleigh website.0
