Family holiday end of August - suggestions?

 We are looking at taking a week away at the end of August (leaving no earlier than Sunday 21 August and returning no later than Saturday 3 September), and we're after either a lakes and mountains type holiday or a city break (Prague?). There's three of us, but the number 3 will only be 9 month old.

Has anyone got any ideas about where we could go? We're looking at a budget of under £1000. Or are we best waiting to see what late deals we could get nearer the time? Where is the best place to find non-beach holiday bargains?

So many questions! Anyone got any answers? :p

    Budget airlines and then holidayhotels.co.uk
Holiday hotels have a few round Lake Garda starting from 3* S/C from about 350 per week (per room not per person) then a low cost airline to Verona ...not sure if there is anything cheap about but worth a shot if not wait for an allocation on arrival ..keep checking Thomsons site and also Inghams and Crystal not the cheapest for packages but they do often have good last minute bargains
If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel

UPDATE: We have found a holiday in Niederau, Austria (right up in the mountains - lovely!) through lastminute.com. This is £547 total, half board in a 3* hotel. I think it looks like a decent deal. Does anyone agree or disagree?

    Thanks

Thats a very good deal if that is the total price in August..
Watch out for hidden added costs ( booking fee, fuel surcharge, transfers , cot charges by the hotel ).
Especially make sure you have tranfers included with it being in Austria.
