Materials for kitchen splashback

I'm having a new kitchen installed and I'm trying to find a material for the splashback that isn't tiles or stainless steel.

I only want a depth of about 200mm-250mm, and the length is about 4m.

I know I can get glass but it's scarily pricey, can anyone suggest any other materials and suppliers?

Oh, and I'm rather (extremely!) partial to pink!:rotfl:

you can get boards that match the pattern of your worktop, but the only pink splashbacks ive seen are made from glass

Did Mrs Vansgirl ask you to post, looks like we're following each other around the same shops, for the same needs!!

Have you seen the glass mosaic sheets in B&Q? They're 30cm in size, but the squares of coloured glass are all 2.5cm squares, so easy to cut with scissors.

We're going to have a run as the splashback, with black pencil strip along the top.

Cost about £34ish a box of 5, I think.

& colour = pink/mauve/redish all in a mixture on each sheet!
