A savings account for my niece

Options
Hi all,
I want to open a savings account for my niece, who was born yesterday. I don't have a lot to spare, as I am piling all my spare cash into debt, but I'd like to put aside a little bit, maybe £10 a month. Any recommendations for the best option?

You could open a Halifax Childrens Regular saver for her and set up a standing order into it each month.

Maybe it would be better to deal with your own debts first?

I am doing, thank you. But I would like to put just a little aside to save for her, as her parents are very young and not in a position to.

  • Will the parents be doing anything with the CTF voucher they will receive? If they open an account with the voucher, would you want to contribute to the account?

  • And make sure that you get a R85 form from the organisation you choose to save with and get one of the parents to sign it. This is so that the interest will not be taxed.
