Read the small print on this one because i think it charges the phone youre sending the text to 50p per message.

    Re:- sms.ac
You are absolutely right about this, they do charge usually 50p to the receiver of the message, your registration profile is on display, and more importantly they send premium rate messages to your mobile at your cost  .

Im still looking for a free sms provider from France to UK, anyone know of one, Pleeeeeeeze XX

    Smartiepants,

I live in France, but as far as free SMS messages are concerned, a free service such as cbfsms.com possibly doesn't know where your PC is and certainly doesn't care. I used to use that site regularly until they suddenly announced that they had been subject to abusive use from my ISP (or its subscribers) and now it won't let me send a message. I find their excuse hard to believe, but when I queried it with their Customer Service people, they claimed it is true. My ISP over here is Tiscali.

Didn't one of the 118 services have a free web-based SMS service? Has it closed it down?

It was 118 888 and it was very good, so good in fact that the demand got out of hand and they had to close.

  • I'm a bit wary of these free-SMS sites now. I switched to Free SMSMate after 118800 closed down, but three of my texts to one friend didn't go through. I only found this out the other day when she told me she'd booked a weekend away with our other friends without me because I never replied to her messages! So, next weekend when I'm sitting at home all alone, in between kicking myself for not just picking up the telephone, I shall also be cursing Free SMSMate.

Michaela and Fifeken are both right, cardboard fish site at https://www.cbfsms.com/ is very good, no problems, no charge. Cheers, Woodville.
