    Try these guys

    http://www.gaynors.co.uk/

They tend to sell a lot of 'end of range' stuff. If you can visiting, the shop in Ambleside, is a better bet because stock changes weekly and there is a much wider selection. Having said that there are a couple of decent tents on the web site.

Alternatively give them a call and ask for advice, the staff are very helpful.
Most things in life are easy it's just doing them well that's difficult !!!!!!!!!! :D:D

    Try this Ebay user,

The stuff they sell isn't well known high st. brands, but they're cheap and cheerful.

I see your point but I now see we are coming from different angles! :D

current camping (realistic) each year = 4 (or 5) times (only go once a month thru summer) @ £70 per tent = £280 per year.... 2 years = £560 (although as we both know I only have one tent that I expect to last that long = £70)

I'm afraid unless its sunny you wont get me taking three kids to a campsite (the thought of it frightens me enough! lol!) so tend only to camp in the summer months when we dont have plans i.e. weddings/birthday parties to go to so will probably get one large holiday and 4 or more smaller weekend ones.....

Which is why I think we are talking from different ends of the spectrum! Guess it depends what the OP wants and if you are camping 26 weeks out of 52 then defo get the more expensive one (although IMO I still think circa £300ish should suffice) but if you are a newbie go for a cheapie.

I also personally would prefer to update my tent every 2 or 3 years as they get a lot lighter and easier to erect etc and thinking of the family tent we had 10 years ago it would be a bit of a monster compared to most tents around at the moment. As i say so wouldn't be looking at a long term investment anyway as with a young family our needs are always changing as to whether we need more or less space etc...

oh yeah, and wouldn't have £500 to spend on a tent anyways! lol! the kids see to that ;)

I do agree with you - you must buy the best tent to suit your requirements - but if in future you want to go winter/autumn/spring camping you need a good tent, as there is nothing worse than waking up at 2am with a wet !!!!!!/sleeping bag/backpack. After your bad nights sleep if you then have to carry the lot when wet and therefore hevier....

Go for the best that you can afford in the midrange, unless you want to be replacing every 6 months as the cheapies do fall apart after a few weeks camping including putting em up and so on.
