Office 2007 docs on Pocket PC

My problem is I want to be able to view docx etc files (without having to convert them) on my pocket pc (which is an iPaq hx4700 running WM5). I've noticed MS have released mobile office 6.1 as an upgrade but frustratingly it won't work with my WM5 as it is too early a build. So any ideas? Am I going to have to try an unofficial ROM upgrade and anyone got any experience of those working and doing what I want?

Is this what you have already found here ? It just says:

    System Requirements
    • Supported Operating Systems: Windows Mobile 5.0 software for Pocket PC; Windows Mobile 6

How can you have an earlier version of WM5 than 5.0?

Sneaky isn't it. I had tried it and got an error message about the build number being too early, see here in the FAQ.

Yes sneaky old M$. The only thing that I can think of is an independently written application to view docx files, I'm sure that someone must have done one by now.

And MS have offered WM6 upgrades free to OEMs and suppliers but HP have refused to take advantage of it and so no WM6 upgrade forthcoming which would also have solved the problem. I'll have a hunt around for 3rd party apps, I'm sure I've seen some commercial ones but TBH if it isn't free then I'd rather just convert the docs back into 2003 format and then reconvert them back again.
