Need some help re Camcorder

We have 2 special holidays coming up one in May to the South of France and another in 12 months time to Florida and New York.
We would like to buy a camcorder and Jessops have some good sales on right now..............I need advice as to which type to buy, I understand there are 3 and the moment I am considering the DVD and the HD which is more expensive.............I need to know which might be the best, which make to go for and hoe easy are they to use, also how easy is it to use the HD ones and transfer to a PC???????? I want to be sure that I can use them correctly and also be able to transfer the pictures onto the Computer.
