i have a gauranteed return bond ISA (linked to the FTSA growth) with 3000 deposited so basically what your saying is that i could open a mini share ISA for 4000?, is this correct due to the type of ISA i already have?
Yes - assuming that what you already have is a cash ISA - its difficult to tell from the description you have givem
As others have said, its worth doing some research before you buy some shares - i.e. M&S shares fell almost 20% last week due to not meeting market expectations and if the economy slows they could fall further..
A goog place to start such reseach would be the Motley Fool - including the discussion boards there.so sunil once i have decided what shares to purchase is it ok if i PM you and we can do the referal cashback scheme together??

thanks sunil, aegis and cloud dog.
the gauranteed bond i have gaurantees me a minimum return of 3.5% over 4 years going up to a maximum of 10% per year dependant on FTSA growth, i know its not great but im not too fussed.
cloud dog thanks for your concerns but i have bought shares via my father (but he uses a guy that charges alot to buy/sell!!) many many times and have made a fair bit over the years to know what im doing! i appreciate i sound like a novice but ive never been a great saver and one for different interest rates and types of savings accounts!!..........until now, which is why i need to ask so much!! lol
think il go into HSBC and FIRST DIRECT banks to talk about a mini share ISA A.S.A.P
in regards to the M & S shares i only asked as it was mentioned by somebody else......i do understand the risks associated with buying shares.
once again thanks for your replies and sunil i shall pm u once i am ready to start tading via selftrade.

Just worth noting that some companies only offer 'Maxi' Share ISAs which you cannot open this tax year, as you say you already have a cash ISA... including HSBC/First Direct I think.
