Won tickets to the concert on 6th July but having trouble finding a hotel thats reasonable and has rooms for this date.
Im now thinking perhaps we should stay outside the city centre and return to the hotel after the concert.
Any suggestions?? Whats the carparking charges like in Edinburgh?

Not much parking and expensive. There is even less round Murrayfield. Best try the Ramada at the Gyle or the Holiday Inn.0

You will have absolutely no chance of getting your car park in Edinburgh during G8. They are expecting 500,000 people and we are only a small city !
Try hotels that are the West side of the city (if you can narrow your search to that) and bus it in. Edinburgh has greenways for the buses and that will be the only way to travel that Wednesday.
All buses run till midnight, but even after that, the nightbuses kick in, so you will always get back to your hotel.
Well done for getting tickets, out of 30 people or so I know who texted in, no-one got them

Had a quick look on expedia for you and the Best Western Capital Hotel is the only one with availability for the Wednesday night in the city !!
This would be perfect for you as you could get a bus to Murrayfield within 15 minutes, hotel has free parking and nightbuses run there all night if you go out for a drink afterwards.
£100 approx for a double room, but it is Edinburgh we are talking about !****************************0 -
I have had a look at the parking restrictions on the 6th of July and there is no chance of getting parked anywhere near Murrayfield.
Alison - I doubt that many will turn up though the shops on Princes street are getting ready for the storm!0 -
I would have a look at B&B anywhere from the Glasgow Road into Murrayfield, loads of them, and then take the bus to the rugby ground
