Not a lot to do in Los Gigantes but you can get a local bus to other resorts if you don't have a car. There are free buses from some resorts to the parrot park. Las Americas has the eagle park and I think they have monkeys too.0

Apart from the Lido for swimming, there's nothing to keep children amused, it's a very small resort, most of the entertainment is in the Los Gigantes Hotel or the bars during the evening. It is very hilly also.
You could take the bus to the next resort of Playa de las Arenas, there is a black beach there and it's nice and flat for walking.
Apart from that, you will have to take the trips, or you could get the bus to Puerto de la Cruz and visit the Loro Park etc0
