Has anyone been there & can advise please?
Am planning on getting a little currency in the UK, then using Nationwide Flex Card to get currency - will this be ok?
Also I understand we need $ to leave the country & pay for trips. I suppose it's best to get before we go, however don't know if we'll be going on any trips & don't want to be left with $ - can you spend them there?
$36 each as departure tax?
Thanks all.

I just got money out of the cash machine in the airport as soon as we arrived in Natal.
The departure tax caught us out, I had to rush over to the machine and get out some R$ (Brazilian Reais) to pay it. They also accept dollars, but not cards.0 -
Many thanks for this, I will hang fire & lift at airport then.
So, you can pay departure tax with reals?????? Thomsons info said $ . Fortunately haven't ordered any.
More importantly, did you have a good time? We're going to Ponta Negra.

I'm not sure whether you can pay your departure tax in Reals or not as we used dollars for ours but I just wanted to say that we went to Natal this time last year you're sure to have a fabulous time!
Make sure you take plenty of high factor sunscreen because the sun is incredibly strong, even with the constant breeze. And if you get chance, make sure you do a dune buggie ride to Genipobu (sp?) and take in a Brazilian football match (I had a great time and I don't even like football!)0 -
Thanks sugarplum. Not so sure about buggy ride as I have a bad back, but will defo be taking in footie (men in shorts & all that
). A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
