First thing I'd look to change is home and contents insurance, that looks high and if you can get cheaper through www.quidco.com then you'll get some cashback too.

Could you find out the details of each card, we need the card (just call them card 1 , card 2 if you want), the amount owed on that card, the APR and the minimum payment.

Keep posting, there's always an answer somewhere okay? :)

  • Hi lostalot. If it is any consolation to you I was initially in your position. Money competely ruled my every thought. That was 6 months ago. I have worked really hard at budgeting at paying things off since then and now I am in control. I still get the odd panic situation but at least I can get to sleep at night these days and no tears.

You need to start off doing Martin's money makeover as on the home page. Look at every single thing you pay and see if there is any way you can get it cheaper. Change anything you are going to change through a cash back site. Sell anything worth selling through e-bay. I had a couple of months where e-bay earnings helped feed us. There are many things you can do to help yourself out but it takes lots of will power and determination. I wish you loads of luck x

Right first thing I will say is that there really is no allocation there for anything other than bills. I would suggest that you get on toe the CCCS tomorrow, I think hey open at 8am and make an app to talk to an advisor and see what they say. Looking at your SOA I wonder if you were to go onto a DMP for the cc and unsecured debts if that would give you enough lea way to at least sleep at night?

Is it possible to get any extra work at all? Bring in some extra cash?
Well done for not gamberling for a week!
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!
  • Hi again
i work parttime as i cant afford childcare
I am looking for an extra job but am limited as to when i can work because of the kids , does anyone know any legit online work as i have looked for months and most are scams i think
Gambling is finished i have self banned myself on the sites i used and as i am not a lifetime gambler i only started about 2 years ago it sounds daft but now i have stopped i feel better and it doesnt bother me tgambling which is a bit of surprise
I have a few close friends but no family as my parents have passed away and i was an only child. I think it makes things a lot harder and i know its no excuse but it is difficult having no one ,sounds like im being a real saddo but unless you have no family its hard to imagine I know i have my kids but they are still young. here i go blubbering again.
Anyway will post again later if thats ok bye for now and thanlks

  • Hi Lostalot.

You've made a brilliant start, you've faced up to the problem and admitted you need help. And that's why we're here :)

For extra income, chuck everything you can think of onto Ebay or Amazon (Amazon's fees are higher BUT they wait until your items have sold and take it directly off the profits so it's totally worry-free). Then join some cashback sites like quidco or pigsback which will slowly earn you free money for a few daily clicks.

You could also try applying to work for AQA which is an easy job to do from home/when the kids are asleep - the link for applications is 63336.com/vacancies and keep checking every few days as they're always advertising. And feel free to PM me if you have any questions about them as I work there ;)

You should also check out entitledto.co.uk to make sure you're getting all the right benefits and uswitch.com to see if you can get your utility bills any cheaper. (Go to uswitch via quidco and you'll EARN money for SAVING it - madness!)

I'm sure there's loads more tips that people have - have a look on one of the other forums (Old Style, I think it's called?) for tips on making a tiny food budget last and remember there are ALWAYS people you can come to for help - us lot, the CAB, National Debtline etc.

Hope you start to feel a bit better and get a good night's sleep...
