ahh excellent. How much is this per month? I notice vonage.co.uk (you can get the gear in currys etc) is £5.99 a month for unlimited calls.

For those who don't know what this is, its when you plug a box into your internet connection (doesn't affect your existing connection to your PC), and you plug your normal telephone in to this, thus giving you normal phone calling down your broadband connection. Benefits are cheaper calls and no need for a normal telephone line, which is more expensive.

I have an Egg credit card but can't see details of the Shell discount on their site. Can you give me some more information please?

    Thanks

look like this 2-3 month promotion is over and replaced with 10% off lastminute.com. A bargain if you consider Valentines is coming up. Potentially 10% off already cheap threatre or meals or even a theatre&meal deal.

Re buying paperbacks, Asda are currently selling bestsellers at 2 for £7. I havent managed to find them any cheaper than that. My daughter who is a uni student has been asked for her student id when tickets have been checked and torn in half at our local cineworld cinema.

  • 17. Do you want broadband but not a telephone line? This is not common knowledge to those who are not overly technical but Cable (Virgin Media) does not require a telephone line for broadband. This often leads to a big cost saving when getting broadband from them. Remember Virgin is also on quidco.

 I requested Broadband only and got told i could not have it on it's own i had to have the TV package with it too :(

This is wrong. You can take out broadband by itself. I suggest you phone again.

They want you to take as many services as possible. I phoned up just asking for broadband and they were begging me to take telephone. I ended up taking it for a fiver extra a month but lookig back I think it was a waste of money. I don't need a landline as I got a free work mobile.

    Great post, thanks :)

Couple of things you could add:

    11) link to Heinz's superb '6-steps' to cost reduction for BT residential landline subscribers
