I wonder wether all the chemicals in "normal" detergent wear out clothes quicker?Anybody any thoughts?

Interesting you should say that - my boyfriend is very sceptical about my using vinegar as a fabric softener (which I am doing, with grapefruit and lavender oil, and I am VERY pleased with the results, lovely soft clothes!). He thinks that because it's acidic it may be harmful for the clothes and cause them to wear out / fall apart / dissolve. He has the same concern about essential oils. It surprises me, as he's alternative in most of his thinking, but is erring on the side Ecover rather than vinegar. But when you think what must be used in some of the big brands?!!..........vinegar's probably mild!

I would not want to be "sneaky", but if you put the vinegar mix in an old Ecover bottle - would he notice?

Depends what sort of man you have :D

If he's a 'new' man, he'll smell the vinegar, but if he's like the thousands who think they are new - or in fact don't care, then as long as the washing fairy delivers clean clothes that don't smell of vinegar, then he won't know.

(Washing fairy is sister to cooking fairy who lives in the kitchen and cleaning fairy who tends to live in the cupboard under the stairs. We also have DIY fairy and planning fairy too :D)
