SKY rip off

Just want to check if any one else has been ripped of by SKY like me. A few years ago I had SKY multi room but at the time I was never told that I should have kept the phone line plugged in. I received 3 letters, and was charged for breach of contract, after I had cancelled multi room. After having been "charged" for breatch of contract, I found out that my broadband microfilter was causing the problem. This christmasI got multi room again. I phoned SKY to say I wanted to upgrade my pack for over X-mas..but I was sold multi room for only 5 pound a month more (Total 38 pound) Just so my kids would stop killing each other over the choise of tv..... MISTAKE. 2 days before Christmas SKY took 81 pound through my DD. I rang and was told the same thing... No phone line. I was never told on the phone to plug my 2nd box back in.. and as this was a "new"contract I would have thought that SKY would have to contact me by letter before they charged me... After cancelling my SKY all out now and screaming at a manager for ten minutes, I was told I have to wait 30 days before they can cancel, and it can take up to 6 weeks before I get my money back. As you can imagine I cancelled my DD and Sky can wait for their money for the last 30 days untill I get my 43 pounds back. Has any one else had this problem??

So you got charge for breach of contract first time around and then made the same mistake again???

If you recieved 3 letters about it why did you never querie it and tell them that there must be a fault if you had it plugged in... they would have come out and fixed it..

I personally have had this happen (broken modem in extra sky box) and I was phoned and contacted by letter and when I told them it was plugged in they sent an engineer out.

The OP agreed to have his/her phone line connected, it is clearly stated in the contract, so this is waste of time rant.

Sky will get their money. make no mistake.

Sky enforce this very strictly because some people have been known to take their second (multiroom ) receivers to their friends houses, now I am not suggesting for one moment that this has happened here..
  • nothing new here

Sky like many ripoff companies deliberately complicate there bills, by charging for some services in advance, pro-rota, adding in individual services charges (administration, connection, vat). add to that reams of itemised billing, no clearly defined areas of billing, and a small font size.

most people think they are being charged correctly and dont make a fuss, thinking its prob right, advisors have been trained to spend less time on phone with each cust to get through as many customers as possible, and hence promise a callback during busy periods which never arrives.

this makes the bill hugely complicated than it needs be, the service deplorable. and the cust being ripped off to no end. unfortunately its the way many comapnies are conducting business - making bills hugely complicated, charging us to call them (and profiting from that, and fobbing us off with half decent answers)

I gave Sky and ultimatum when they were offering me a retention package - it was i will pay you £120 for the entire year and for that i want X, Y and Z in the cost all included. the answer was we can offer you X, Y and Z at the cost but it would be a per monthly billing as our systems wouldnt allow what you ar asking - (so we could rip you off a bit more) - NO THANKS!

I had the same problem, recieved a number of letters from sky and when i attempted to fix the problem and it didnt work they sent out an engineer to fix it. Although i have to say there was alot of "O, its BT's fault" & "O, its Sky's fault". But even so, they allowed me extra time than stated on the letters to fix the problem because i rang up.

Your box only has to be connected for the first year and even then they are extremely relaxed about it... They are not relaxed about Multiroom as people could use the extra box from someone elses house so it MUST be connected to the account phone line

They don't turn out to connect boxes that are already connected!

Not certain if you are deliberately trying to bamboozle us or you genuinely don't understand the 'double negative'. ;)
