  • thanks - i did try that, but no good...i think thats just for setting up your viewing preferences when logged in.

i will try again once the weekend is out of the way and if no joy then will give them a call - i think its a bit unfair if you have to wait out the 6 months when you can view a closed account for 'information only' before they no longer class it as one of your 5 websavers! will let you know what happens.

if i cant open another for 6 months will probably go for the icesave 6 month term...little bit more hassle as all my funds are with halifax right now, but hey, its their loss if they wont let me give them more cash!

Can anyone, please, provide a link to the fixed rate product to which this thread refers?

That shouldn't be the case. They can't logically count a closed Web saver - in the total of 5 allowable? Otherwise I would have hit that when they first introduced the limit.

You've either hit a glitch or (they run their systems 365/yr) the Batch run on Friday (which they've had to revise because of the 7 day running) isn't clearing the closed account down from all their systems properly. Give them a ring Mon .. after they've gone through tonights Batch run?
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !

update - went through the app process again this morning and it opened it fine :)

must have just been a weekend system thing :)
  • blimey, havent halifax killed the rates on the 3/6 month fixed websavers over the last couple days!!

3month and 6 month bown down to 5.68% gross - thats over 1% they've chopped off the previously generous 6 month offer.

guess we all have to get ready for a lot of this over the coming weeks/months with the impending sharp falls in worldwide interest rates.
