My new coast still has the security tag on

I went shopping today with my partner and I picked up a lovely new coat in the sale. After shopping we went to my mums and I was showing her what I had got, she tried my new coat on as we are the same size only to find a security tag still attached  . We went in and out of different shops but the alarm never went off once    in any of the shops, I would of been able to go back and get it removed if it had. My partner said he thought she left the tag on but when to his disappointment the alarm didn't go off he didn't think anything of it and thought it had been removed. My partner knows I cant stand walking through them even if I have not got anything just incase the alarm goes off, he thought he was being funny by saying nothing  . We live 30 miles from where we went shopping, the is the same shop about 5 miles away but it's not the point. I have left my new coat :o and the receipt with my mum as she is able to take it back to the local shop on Monday, I just hope they will do it as I paid on my card.

  • I hate when this happens, I've had that a coulple of times. When I notice i generally just go into the nearest clothes shop and ask them if they can remove it rather than go back to the original shop if it's far away.

  • When I worked in retail if this happened and the person rung the store before coming back in and spoke to the manager, then they would usually get a £10 (or so) gift voucher for inconvenience/petrol money. I haven't worked for Coast so not sure of their practice but you never know.

Give it a try, but remember to be nice not angry!

though if any one tries this, be careful as some are filled with ink, that if the tag is broken the item is ruined, no matter what you try to use to get it off, as i found once with a top i bought that the shop left the tag on. (thankfully it was only cheap) another way is a pair of very strong magnets on either side of the tag

Was looking at some clothes today in a shop, and they had put the ink tags on the labels so all you had to do was cut the label to remove it , hardly a good security measure !

i had this with boots when i bought some clothes for a friends new baby. i was just wrapping it to send it when i noticed one of the items still had the security tag on it. i didn't set the alarms leaving the shop but did when i enhtered a week later with my reciept to get the tag removed.

any way they removed the tag no problem - it was inconvienent as normally i work in town so am there 5 days a week - but at the time i was recovering from surgery and unable to drive - so i had to wait untill i could get a lift into town to get the tag removed - this in turn ment a delay in posting my new baby pressie.
