making a house more saleable

another great tip someone gave me years ago - whenever ANYone in the house goes out, take something out with you - either to the tip or charity shop or dustbin - this makes the decluttering a little less stressful.0

We are finally at the point we are going to sell our house - we are relocating due to my husbands work. We finished painting the hallway this weekend and I still need to do the cloakroom this week, before the first valuation on Friday. We bought the house for us to live in and did all the redecoration, wooden floors etc., but then my OH got a job offer in Lancashire and he is there since October, se we can't wait to move!
I am going to do a deep clean each evening and put fresh flowers in the dining room and maybe hallway. I need to declutter our study a bit, as it is full of paperwork (I am finishing my post-grad degree as well as work), but It shouldn't be too difficult.
We also cleaned the garden this weekend - removed all empty pots, wood sticks, dead leaves, cut the hedge and collected all the rubbish that gets thrown in occasionally as we are live on the path to school. I am going to look for some plant that would add some colour to the front garden, but I think that general gaden cleaning is very important!!!!
I would like to get someone to clean the windows from outside, but with the weather as it is now it is simply impossible (It is raining here non stop). Also, our outside light packed up yesterday, so I need to sort that out!!!!!!
I wish my snowdrops came out soon - it would add a nice touch to the garden!!!!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Our house went on the market last week, first viewing is today!! We spent the weekend finishing off little jobs, sorting out the garden and cleaning like mad things. I've just been and washed the front door and can't believe how much of a difference its made!
Am now sitting here too scared to do anything in case I make a mess lol!:heart2: Mumma to DD 13yrs, DD 11yrs & DS 3 yrs. :heart2:0 -

Good luck with the viewing!!!!! We are hoping that EA will do the viewing for us as we want to be up north viewing for houses ourselves at the weekends and I am working during the day and we live separately during the week due to OH's work... I think I would be happy to do the viewings in the evenings though.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

Just a small point but if you can try to avoid viewings in the evenings especially if its dark as the rooms etc dont look so big, plus the potential buyers dont get to see the full benifits of the house0

When I sold my house a couple of years ago the day the couple who bought it came to view it was pouring with rain! I had the heating on to make it feel comfortable but also had the fire on low in the lounge and some tealights burning in a holder on the fireplace so it looked all warm and cosy! They fell in love with it straight away!!Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0

Agree with that. When we were buying I wouldn't view any properties once the light started to fade.....though some of them I wish we had
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
If you've got a real fire or log burner then try to have that lit. We sold our house last January and everyone commented on how cosy and welcoming it made the house feel. And fresh fruit in bowls (green apples and oranges) always give a splash of colour especially if you're magnolia walls and white woodwork. Good luck iwht it!0
