                    Hi all,
Since I hate those jug water filters (they take up too much space and cannot for the life of me work out how to pour without getting most water over the worktop!) I have been considering getting a water filter and tap assembly. Probably from eBay.
What struck me today though, was the possibility of using the water filter and connecting it to the main sink tap instead of fitting the additional tap provided. Is this possible? Are there any disadvantages, other than slight reduction is water pressire and all water being filtered from this tap?
If I were to do it, it would be to a mixer tap - I cannot see how this would produce a further problem, can you? Water pressure for taps should be 0.5bar, and the output from the filter should be around this, surely?
Anyone tried this? Thoughts?

I think this is the main disadvantage and it is important enough. Filter has its replacement life - volume of water it can filter. If you filter all the water through it, you'll have to replace filter very oftenajbaker wrote:... Mains water pressure is much higher. Different taps have different minimum operating pressure.Water pressure for taps should be 0.5bar, and the output from the filter should be around this, surely?
There are special monoblock triple flow mixer taps, quite expensive though. See for example:If I were to do it, it would be to a mixer tap - I cannot see how this would produce a further problem, can you?
