    Our council take metal jar lids in our recycling scheme.

    thanks i will put them in and hope they will, they wont take metal can or jar lids for some reason in this area.

    Before we had recycling I used to take the odd item like that into work and dispose of it there if it was appropriate. I worked for an engineering/manufacturing company.

    I and a few others have often taken in large metal items. Once I saw a bonnet off a fiat uno in the metal skip. The company didn't mind as it meant a few quid extra for them and the individual who needed a home for it was well served.

    Other than that, it would be accumulate them, squash them up then take them to the tip with the other tipable items. Then when you get there sort them into the right areas.
