Sheffield hotels?

Hi new to this so not sure if this is in the right place but here goes.
We were after joining some friends (already booked in) at the hilton in sheffield (not my choice) in February. Checked the rates before xmas and was just waiting to confirm if we were free to join them. Checked the rates again this evening and the same room had gone up £40. Not willing to pay the extra so was hopping one of you very helpful people may be able to suggest a hotel nearby (in walking distance if pos), or know if the price is likely to drop back down again nearer the date.

the premier travel inn is pretty close and usually costs about 70£/night. there are also a couple of other brand name hotels in that area but i can't remember their names. the hilton is overpriced anyway imo.

Hi- my Mum lives in Sheffield so I'm up there quite a bit; The Mercure St. Pauls is probably the nicest in the city and they offer a £75 rate. They have a lovely restaurant and champagne bar adjoining the Winter Gardens:

    Hi

I dont know what type of hotel you want but as far as I can remember the Ibis (city centre) and Travelodge (city not richmond) are very close to the Hilton (across the road, a very busy road but walkable distance). Will have a look and get back to you.

    HTH

EDIT: The Ibis seems to be £54 but if you are staying before Feb 15th there is £10 off. The Travelodge is coming up at around £44 depending on when you are going. Not stayed at this Travelodge but it is a brand new building so should be one of the better ones!
  • Thanks Hannah2 manage to book the Travelodge. Looks like it is just the other side of the roundabout.CHEERS!:j
  • That hilton is quite nice though.. great looking pool facilities

We had a night there before before xmas and very good. Secure car park next door (looks expensive) but take ticket hotel to validate and I think we paid £6 for 24 hours. We decided we would get our own breakfast but after treking round the city, it wasn't a good idea.
