Looking for a Central London hotel fri/sat

Just been informed by work that I can now have the time off to go to the Live8 concert this comming Saturday. Now I have another problem...i'm struggling to find a hotel for friday and saturday night.

Can anybody help? Names of hotels, recommendations ect. Dont want to spend a fortune but it has to be clean and tidy, Travel lodge/inn type thing would be ideal but i'm not having any luck finding one at the minute.

Cheers,

Pete.

There are a few Travelodges in London. I would advise you not to stay at Travelodge Farringdon as I did a few weeks ago - rooms are old fashioned, lifts didn't work, rooms were very hot and car park was full. The Travelodge Kings Cross just down the road from it looked nicer though.
Try lastminute.com for deals on London hotels - they usually have very nice ones on there for around half the standard tariff.

I'm very anti Bob Geldoff right now (on account of his encouraging everybody to swamp Edinburgh for the G8 meeting) but I could sugesst Blades Hotel in Belgravia, London. We recently stayed there, £75 per night B&B with a great landlord. I don't know how that compares to other accom in London though?

Travel Lodge at Kings Cross is good - it's new-ish, close to the trains (Duh!) and our room was quiet. Stayed there last August when it had just opened.
    Not even wrong

You can also try lastminute.com who have cheaper rooms as part of their Top Secret Hotels - you know what area you are staying in but not the actual hotel name, so the price is lower.
However there is a way around this. I found a Top Secret hotel on lastminute.com that was really reasonably priced but I really wanted to know exactly which hotel it was before I booked it - so I took the description used by lastminute.com for that hotel - and typed it into Google. Lo and Behold it took me to the lasminute.com Australia site where that Hotel was happily named for people to look at the details - same description, same photos - higher price on the australia site cos it was named.

So I booked it - 4 * Hotel - which actually couldn't have have been a better location for where I wanted to stay - it was right next to Regents Park - and I was going to the Taste of London Festival in Regents Park.

So - there are ways round the Top Secret Hotels... you know exactly where you will be staying - but pay less for "pretending" not to know....hehehehe

Try this site, run by a fellow MSE-er, a godsend in my opinion:

    https://www.hotelscomparison.com
  • because of my work I have to stay in London sometimes and I usually stay in Bickenhall Hotel
They do have a website: https://www.bickenhallhotel.co.uk
    Their Telephone number is 02079352418
They give u a ensuite room with Breakfast about £60 for single or £70 double. If you want just a room and erm.. which is 4th floor they can even give it for cheaper.. :) I am a regular customer maybe these are the rates they give me.. and they give you another rate.. good luck anyway ;)

As you get nearer to the time of stay to book the price goes up.

    try https://www.londontown.com

Also Best Western Hotels - Especially the Mostyn Hotel, Bryanston Street, Mayfair which is just a 5 minute walk from the venue.

I stayed in London the weekend of the 24th to 27th June from what Im gather not only is it Live8 but also GAY PRIDE March day. This will make London very packed and I heard that some of the tourist buses might not be running due to the anticipated congestion in London over the weekend.

It means hotels will be doing brisk business and last minute bargains few and far between.

If you can get the Chesterfield Hotel, Mayfair for their summer rate via londontown.com take it; it is 5* and good quality.

From Trafalger Sq every night @ 6pm The Big Bus Company does a walk of ghost haunts around The Strand and Covent Garden but in reality it is a pubcrawl. Did this and about 80 people set off and about only 20 arrived at the last pub will make a good Friday night activity for you.
