Where to start?
Im hoping people n here might be able to offer me some advice or at least calm me down....
This is the story
My mortgage is with the halifax, visa is with the halifax, loan is wit the halifax(paid next month:j ) car insurance OHs business accounts etc....
12 years we have been with them, no missed payments for anything etc...
But last month my visa payment was late, I didnt pay it until 2 days ago...however I informed the halifax, told them 3 times it would be late, they said pay what you can up until you pay the full ammount, no problem I thought:rolleyes: ..bareing in mind that I have ALWAYS PAID IN TIME and OVERPAID to mortgage, loan etc.....
So guess my surprise when I got a cheeky phone call saying that if I paid the ammount owed right now I wouldnt have any more phone calls 'we'll stop calling'...excuse me but I did pay all be it late but when I paid online, I paid decs/jan and an overpayment too, he said okay fine....end of story or so I thought....
Today I got a 'calling card' through my door
retail collections officer comming to your house:mad:
phoned halifax very annoyed and was told that paymnt online was pending, no one would come out cause it was payed
ALL THIS FOR 1 MISSED PAYMENT.
Is this right?
Are they allowed to do this?
Ok I admit it was my fault being late but i did explain and silly me thought becuase it was a first time and becuase we banked with them, OH makes a good wage, that it would be okay.....maybe naive????
Sorry about this rant but Im pregnant also, Im online looking at moving all accounts from them, just feel annoyed
Im I right to feel this way
or should I let it go?
Anyone else got anything to add or suggest
Thanks

people coming to your house for 1 missed payment a BIG NO!!!!!!!0

Sounds just a little bit harsh to me. I take it that the collection thing was definitely about the Halifax and not something else that you'd forgotton about, or meant for one of your neighbours, or a previous resident or something?
If you decide to move accounts don't go to HSBC!!! I'm pregnant and having my own hormonal issues there at the moment!
Good luck and let us all know what they say!0 -
Thanks for the replies
Im starting to calm down a bit now
Had some dinner
Just wondered if anyone else had experience of this?
Should I let it go?
Put it down to experience...motivation to clear the debt asap?
or call the number on the card first thing monday morning(shut at weekend)(I could only get throught to the visa people)....and complain.....
Any advice
thanks!!!!!0 -
tell us a bit more.
have you moved into your house recently?
Have the previous owners left loads of debt at your address?
Your husband hasn't got a 'secret' debt he can't afford to pay?
Does your business have bed debts that maybe you don't know about?
It really does sound harsh for them to that after one missed payment.Official DFW nerd no 551 - proud to be dealing with my debts

Definitely call them! And be extremely rude!!! Well, maybe not the rude part, but if nothing else it will confirm that the card is definitely for what you think it's for. And you can take great delight in telling them it was paid several days ago, so eff off and don't call round again!
Still can't believe their cheek!0 -

I was wondering if the ammount 13000 had something to do with it, but this has reduced over the 2 yeras and no missed payments ever...so im at a loss

payment was ue 31st paid wed night so it was late, that i know, but so dd they as i told them so.....
Girl on phone said that it was a cross over and cause it had been paid it would go on file, as payment hadnt showed up yet...but still to come out and see me?
wonder if this is legal?0 -

I posted in your thread, didnt have aything constructive to add but support is comforting
still quite annoyed mind you:mad:0 -
Well I don't think you should let it go at all to be honest.
We are still the customers you know and we are the ones who pay THEIR wages. Something gets a wee bit lost in the translation sometimes and it seems the financial institutions think THEY have all the power. Mortgages, credit cards, loans, etc are not free - they actually cost us to have them. Banks are in the service industry but I fear they believe their own hype nowadays.
If you feel continuity of bank is beneficial and that your loyalty is rewarded (which, to be honest it hasn't been in this episode) by all means stay. I sure as hell wouldn't!
Phew, all that and no pregnancy hormones, just pre-mental ones

Im going to call them
they are not opened until monday
I dont see how this has happened?
ok I admit fault with the late payment, but why want to send someone round?
the girl on the phone today said it was because the card was sent out beofre the payment arrived. Im just wondering if this is some sort of tactic they use to make people panic and pay up right away???
Dont honestly know?0 -
it's all good until we make a mistake I had a bank charged for the first time because off £6 overdraft I had to pay £39 to them that make me furious.I am sorry if I made too many mistakes in my writing as English is not my first language:A0
