System Restore

I have Xp 2 but system restore will not work. i tried the idea with the problem of using virus software but i have carried this out but to no luck.

It appears to work ie.shuting down and then powering up but message didnot restore . this is the last bold date0

Sorry, so is it still not working ? If not did you try both the links i put on for you ?
Try this ,click start ,then run then type in SFC /scannow gap between c and /. Windows file checker . It will just check and then close again.

At last I got a restore to work but only via the safe boot way. I am still open to other ideas.
