HELP! with vehicle no claims bonus

hi everyone,
i just need some moneysaving help with keeping my ncb going.
basically i have been a company vehicle driver for the last 2 years and my ncb will run out on the 28th oct from my old own car.
i have an old volvo(not used and on the drive) which i could insure but dont want to pay a full years insurance to get my ncb note for another 2 years.is it possible to just insure for a week or month then cancel and get a ncb note sent out again? or have you any other ideas on how i can do this without spending alot of money?

::)

    I thought most insurers would consider your claim free record (backed up with written proof) from driving a company vehicle.

    So no need to insure/keep the old car, just for this reason.

    Chat your broker & see!!

    Yep - I've done this twice in the past 10 years, with no problems. You don't need to do anything now, just when you get a new car for which you need personal insurance. Then you just speak the person at your company who deals with the co car scheme. They should arrange for the company car insurers to send you a letter confirming your (no) claims history.

    ahhhhh, excellent!
    thanks, i didnt realise that could be done?the company i work for is a very big company so i dont receive any insurance paperwork or details(my employers dont like giving any info out) i only know the insurers name and i will probably contact them,would it make any difference that i am insured to drive any company vehicle?
  • Your company should have a car administrator. Someone you contact about anything to do with your company car.

    If you contact the insurance company direct, they might not deal with you - as your company may have specificed "authorised" people that the insurer is to deal with.

    Remember, that this is the company's insurance policy - not yours. You are an authorised driver on that policy, hence your claims history can be used for a private policy.

    In my experience, the Company's car administrator can sort this out. In a big company, you won't be the first who has asked for this ;)

    Not really - it's your claims history that your personal insurer is interested in.

    You might need to persevere, but I'm sure you'll get the right result :)
