How long ???

How long do I have to wait to get rid of my Ex girlfriends stuff?
She hasn't asked for them back, well she hasn't actually spoken to me to ask for them back.

If she doesn't ask for them back I'll sell em on eBay!

I was wondering if there is a time limit?

You selling them would be technicaly theft. Suggest you send a letter giving a deadline. If she doesn't respond, then I think you could sell them.

Depends what it is, if it's anything valuable (like jewellery or electrical items) or personal (like photos) I'd say you have an obligation to get it back to her, could you post it to her or her parents or something? If it's just her toothbrush, half used toilteries & a spare t-shirt I'd say dump it.

I ended up storing some of my ex-husbands stuff for over 2 years, I had just decided to contact him & say I'd keep it for another month & then I was going to get rid of it when he called me out of the blue & asked when he could come & collect it.

Persoanlly I think if you are going to get rid of anything valuable then you should at least give her an opportunity to get it back before you take any action.

5 weeks is no time at all in relationship terms! I'd say make a concerted effort to get it back to her or contact her & give a very reasonable amount of time for her to collect it by.

I agree that selling it would technically be theft, to say nothing of immoral & downright rude if you don't give her fair warning, whatever terms you ended on.

Sorry if this offends, just my humble opinion:rolleyes:

Whilst they may have offended you, you can still take the moral high ground, put them all in a box, and send her a letter saying she has a month to collect, or you will have to put them in the bin.

It will at least give you the satisfaction of knowing you did the right thing, even if she has hurt you.

Put them all up on ebay, then send the links for each item to her - with a bit of luck she'll end up paying you for stuff she alread owns. Everyone's a winner.

    Well, apart from her.

Take them round to her house when you know someone is in, ring the doorbell and walk away.

Do not be drawn into a tit for tat situation. They are not yours to sell and if you do so, it could very well backfire on you. I agree with jw1096 on this and you should be the one taking the moral high ground. Make arrangements to get them back to her and then you can move on.
