Hi all,
Just a note to beware if you're changing and look carefully at the wording of the policy for life of pet not annual renewal, which many (including tecso) have. If oet has pre-existing condition then the new policy will exclude this so you need to balance up the benefit of changing with exclusion of a medical condition as ou will have to pay any money relating to that. Re M&S I swapped last year but at renewal they bumped the premium up I ended going back to pet plan but have had real probs with their cust service recently so looking around for a better deal...would never not have pet insurance again (lesson learned the hard way) but want one that isnt extortionate but has good cover!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! I have two large dogs, both needing ongoing treatment. One is with for life with Pinnacle - excellent company, cheap and pay out fast. The other is with M&S, and trust me if I could I would dump them like a shot, but as my 2nd dog has an ongoing condition I cannot move as it would be excluded.
As someone has posted, they reel you in with a low first year premium, then in Y2 my premium went up by 130%. I thought it was because I had claimed, but my vet told me the same had happened to most customers. They blame it on the underwriters, my vet said he had been told they were making no profits.
Hope you find a good one.

Hi,
I've got 2 cats, one is 8 the other is 2.
I pay £15 per month for both, had to claim for the older cat last yeat about £1000 and AFI were very good, paid up in 5 weeks.
I'm always thinking of shopping around but older cat is now a no no, younger cat maybe.
However 3 years ago again with animal friends insurance, I had a terminally ill cat with cancer, and they were excellent, paid £1500 out in the end.
I've done a few quidco quotes to see, but I can't get cheaper

You say that, but it doesn't take much honestly

Hi
I have 3 horses all insured with Pet Plan and they in total only come to £35 a month and this is unlimited, but I do have a high excess of £500 per claim which is how i keep the monthly cost down, but then due to the total amount a horse vet bill can come to (my insurance has paid £4600, £800, and £3100 in the last 5 yearsto Liphook Equine Hospital!)
Dont worry having 3 horses is not how i got into debt!Give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and you will feed him for a lifetime
Finally dealing with my whopping debt!0 -
I would stay put with if you can't get the same cover anywhere else
I'm with petplan and my cat got run over last year breaking his legs and had to have his tail amputated. It cost 1600 in total:eek:On the start of a long road, but I will get there:beer:

Sainburys insurance were really good when i had to claim for my 3 month old kitten (now nearly 2), he broke his leg on what would be our ankle and as he was only a baby had to go to a specialist to make sure it healed properly. Luckly the specialist was only 10 miles away but the whole bill was £2250ish!!!!:eek::eek:
I only paid £75 though although did have to pay the total upfront but got it back within a few weeks.
And yes he is worth every penny.
Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0
