Pet Insurance....!

Options
Advice please.

I'm on a DMP with CCCS started in November and so far going well. In fact this is the first christmas we are not still paying for. The others we are still paying off but this year cut down on presents and used cash only. The one blip on our budget is the PET INSURANCE. We have 2 cats and 1 dog currently insured with PET PLAN. This costs £18 pm for both cats and £30 pm for the dog. PET PLAN is the only insurer i can find that has an unlimited vets and treament policy. I can find the insurance much cheaper but without the unlimited policy. Vets bills can easily reach well over 4000-6000 ( i have been told by my vet) and so i am unsure about losing this security, but i really want to cut down that monthly bill. I have tried telling PET PLAN that i'm leaving but that doesnt work. ANY ADVICE PLEASEEEEEE.......!

P.s The wife won't let me sell them for meat either........!
Its time to nut up or shut up......!

    Have you tried NFU?
They offer unlimited and they're a lot cheaper...my horse costs less than your dog to insure and when I rang about my dog who is a specialist high risk breed it was only £12...

is your vet sponsored by someone cheaper/can offer discount for three animals on one policy? i've got two kittens but not insured as petplan was too expensive lol. £6000 seems alot of money... something major would have to happen for that!

Yup! we are with M&S too :) very happy with them. Check the cash back sites to see if you can get the insurance through them that way.

I totally agree. Last year my pony had to go into "hospital" to have the ligaments on his patellas severed. Quite a major operation involving xrays ultrasound, blood tests anaesthetic and surgery, the final bill only came to £3200 and thats for large animal surgery!!!
a dog with a broken femur lets say can cost in the region of £2500, obstructed digestion, a favourite when they swallow toys stones etc would be about £1500.
£6000 seems a massive amount to be insured for and i'd imagine this could be cut down.
I'm with pet plan for DP and pay £10.81 per month, unlimited cover, £150 xs, and all the usual stuff, euthanasia, disposal, lost/stolen etc etc.

Good luck and hope you manage to get something sorted.

I was with M&S but they bumped the premium up so much after the first year that I switched to Tesco - could insure both dogs for the price M&S wanted for one. I pay £19 per month and that gives up to £4000 worth of cover with a £60 excess.

i used to have M & S and they were the cheapest and the best. when i lost my dog suddenly last year they were brilliant and paid out in full for the vets fees and the cost of the private cremation. they even reminded me about the "death by illness" payout on the policy and sent me a cheque promptly..

yes this is a worry with me, mine's due for renewal and i'm worried about the renewal cost...since my dog has 'ongoing conditon's i'm unable to move insuracne companies as i won't get 'exsisting conditions' so im worried they'll sting me knowing this
