Hello gabyjane

I'll move your thread to the 'Motoring & Public Transport' board.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

Regards

Could you possibly just start again with this thread?

What exactly are you after? Your questions are VERY vague, and the information is easily out there for you to find.

You won't be a business user (need to be VAT registered).

Good bits:- Straight forward, can be cheaper than buying. they will drop it off and collect at end of contract.

Bad Bits:- Any dings or scrtaches will cost you, so if you have any probably best to have them fixed. Mileage normally only 10,000 miles per annum (you need to be realistic on you annual mileage and check what excess costs are per mile)

Tips:-

Be flexible on you car for best deal. Choose a 1 or 2 year term (3 at a push). Do your sums but a rule of thumb is take What car target price divide by monthly payments (inc VAT) and if the result is <65 it is probably not that great a deal if its >100 the deal is fantastic. Anything around 70-75 is good.

Check if manufacturer is offering cheap finance that might make buying better. Less popular cars tend to cheaper don't rush, its a bit like buses there will be no decent deals for ages then they all come at once.

This site is proably a good place to start:-

Thanks for the replys, firstly higuyuk i am not sure why the thread needs starting again, the questions are perfectly valid as far as i'm concerened? after looking at numerous leasing sites i wasn't sure what rules there were for business users..also the good and bad bits was for anyone who had, had one and found problems with it..sorry really don't know what you are getting at?

Hintza thankyou for your sensible reply!
I am self employed but no i am not VAT registered so thats a no no, thinking about it i wasn't that bothered it just made it cheaper that's all, for my job i think it would just complicate matters anyway!
The car we would like is the Ford Focus, 3dr and prob 1.4, there is one where we live and it is £15k, this bought using a personal loan works out far more than the leasing so thought it made sence but i will shop round and see what we can find! The mileage is 8p off the top of my head if you go over and the term is 2 or 3 years which is fine..it was just the accident bit and wether you have to use them to fix it..some of the sites are very vague!
Thanks again very helpful!

I must admit I didn't explain myself very well either.

I just meant that your OP didn't really say much. Where you had looked for information, your circumstances etc. No point pointing you to a site you've already spent hours.

In this post you explained alot more which would have been helpful in the OP. That your self employed and not VAT registered, you'd like a Ford Focus 3dr 1.4...
