daughter nearly chocked to death on a screw from a furreal pet

Options
im sorry if its in the wrong place but i really need to vent
please if any on your childeren have any furreal pets keep an eye out and keep checking the toys for loose screws

at christmas my daughter was brought a furreal pet the (jungle cat)
today i thought she was coughing but it became obveious that she was infact choking after several hard smacks to her back she coughed/sicked up a small shiny screw the only thing she was playing with was the furreal pet and now its head has gone all floppy witch it was not like it before

im sooooo angry as i thought that these toys were supposed to go through tough saftey tests and quality control i mean if i was not paying her any attention she could have god forbid chocked to death

i have sent hasbro.co.uk a email and am debating on wether on not i should send hasbro.com one or where to go next

and what makes you laugh is on the hasbro.com site there is this big thing on saftey

Comments

  • firstly, glad she is okay but it must have been scary

may I just ask how old your child is before I add any comments regarding toy safety

  • she is 3 and a half i know it states 4+ but surely they do not state this age because of screws falling out

please dont take it as offence as im not having a go :o

to be honest it is something most parents do ... I give both my children toys which are too old for them going off the age stated.

Hope you have calmed yourself down and that your daughter is ok now.

  • My dad works in the toy safety industry. He's told me the 4+ category is there to stop kids eating toys... i.e. under 4's are presumed to put everything they can in their mouths.. over that age they won't (as much)

You should complain, bits of toys shouldn't fall off - especially screws, sounds like a manufacturing defect.

thanks i understand they say 4+ for a reason but as you said i dont think that would make a difference as a screw should not fall off anyway

    thanks
