Dell laptop freezes

I have a inperation 640 and it must freeze about 10 times a night.#
I`ve tried reloading xp pro and it still freezes.
Can anyone help ??

if it has 2 sticks of RAM (the cover for the ram is on the bottom, square panel) take one out and try running it for a while, if it still locks then try the other
if you have a lot of USB stuff plugged in , try removing everything from the USB ports and running it for a whileEx forum ambassador

just replace it, look at the type of SDram it is , should be on the sticker on the ram, and find another , possibly increase the amount of ram at that time to make it run fasterEx forum ambassador

Is it free from malware? sp2? firewall on? All drivers installed properly in start, run, devmgmt.msc
