IVY -Getting rid!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bleg
We are moving into a new house soon and ivy appears to have already moved in. Personally I find it creepy ( sorry all the gardeners out there). I want to get rid and from my past experience with them they take hold very firmly and all the weed killers have little or no effect on their thick shiny leaves. [glow=red,2,300]I want to get rid[/glow]. Any I deas anyone??

had same problem when we moved into our house 5 years ago,
the first thing is cut it at or as near as possible to the roots.
you can then leave upper part to die of, which will make it easier to pull away.
be aware if it is up as high as the bottom of your roof, it could well be in your loft as well. ours was, it took until i painted the outside of the house, to clear it all, as i then ensured i pulled/scraped,cut it away completely
the roots can be killed of something, although we have since had a driveway put on front garden, 2 years ago, so the roots were dug out thensmile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

Thanks I had figured that it would be a bit of a physical thing. I had hoped that there would be now something on the market that would make it a whole lot easier. Dare I hold my breath?-Keep your eyes to the sunshine and you would not see the shadows-
