Calls from St Lucia

Having a holiday in St Lucia in February.
Any suggestions as to the cheapest way of calling UK landlines. I will need to make several long calls daily. I suspect using the hotel telephone will be expensive!
BT Calling Card rate is 71p/ minute. Orange charge £1.75/minute using the Digicel network in St Lucia.
I have a SIM-free mobile.
I am looking either an International Calling Card offering low rates from St Lucia, a local SIM card or an International SIM card.
Any ideas gratefully received.

Probably the cheapest option is to get whoever you want to speak to in the UK to call you back via one of the 6p or 7p per minute gateway providers.
http://callchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/intcallchecker/st_luciaTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
You could use one of the call back services.
With Vyke (there's others) you tell it the number you wish to take the call on and the number you wish to call.
You can do this via a small program you download to the phone or via SMS.
You need to make sure you can take calls on the phone you want.
I've used this whilst away, first I ring the phone to check it accepts incoming calls. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
