Cancelled Capital 1 card and told I could apply again in a week!

Today I phoned up Capital One and asked to cancel my credit card.

The account was actually in credit thanks to the cashback I've accumulated and I've transferred the credit to another credit card.

I was told that I could apply after a week for their 4% cashback for their credit card.

I thought I would have to wait 6 months!

So you cancelled a 4% cashback credit card - and you can reapply for another one in a week? Or was the first one not 4%?!

' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

Behind every great man is an astonished mother-in-law....

The first was not 4%. I'd had it a while and stopped using it when I received Martin's e mail tips my wife applied and got one in her name.

When I originally phone a manager at C1 she advised me also to do just that. She told me that her and her partner did the same.

However Martin's e mail did mention that I would have to wait another 6 months before applying for another C1 card in my name, assumingly regardless of what deal I was on. From what I would have been told today this may not be the case.

When I told her why I was cancelling she told me to apply for another one in a week, I said that I may leave it 3 months when the 5% on my Amex runs out. She understood and agreed that this may be the best option for me.

It all depends on how many places refuse the AMEX card. If I can get my £200 cashback in 3 months then its onto the next C1 card.
